Transitional Kindergarten Prep Program
With Transitional Kindergarten (TK) now available to parents in California, there is an opportunity to send children to public school before they reach kindergarten age. However, not all programs offer full-day schedules, which may not support full-time working parents. Additionally, you might feel your child isn’t quite ready for TK but still want to ensure they develop the necessary skills to be kindergarten-ready.
Our Kindergarten Prep program at Calvary in our Sunshine Classroom is designed to bridge the gap between preschool and kindergarten, providing children with a strong foundation for future academic success. Our comprehensive curriculum focuses on:
Academic Readiness: Children engage in activities that develop early literacy and numeracy skills, ensuring they are well-prepared for kindergarten.
Social-Emotional Development: We foster a nurturing environment where children learn essential social skills, emotional regulation, and build self-confidence.
Creative Exploration: Through art, music, and imaginative play, children develop their creativity and critical thinking abilities.
Physical Development: Our program includes plenty of physical activities that promote gross and fine motor skills, essential for overall growth and coordination.
Cultural Awareness: We introduce children to diverse cultures and communities, helping them understand and appreciate the world around them.
Our dedicated teachers with over 30 years experience use a play-based learning approach, blending structured activities with child-initiated exploration. This method ensures that children are engaged and motivated to learn while having fun. Our class ratio is also smaller than typical TK classrooms offering more focused attention to your child.
Key Components of Our TK Prep Program:
Structured Literacy and Math Activities: Focused on building foundational skills.
Handwriting Development: We utilize Handwriting Without Tears®, a proven program for teaching handwriting to children.
Social Skills Development: Encouraging cooperative play and conflict resolution.
Creative Arts and Science Exploration: Stimulating curiosity and creativity.
By the end of our program, children will have developed the confidence, skills, and knowledge to succeed in kindergarten and beyond. Join us at Calvary Preschool, for a transformative educational journey that sets the stage for lifelong learning.
